OrigamiUSA sailboat

Wednesday, 05 July 2017 00:00

One of the largest origami communities is the origami association in the United States (OrigamiUSA). Representative offices in each state, regular exhibitions and master classes, as well as international level origami conferences are just a small example of their sphere of business.

The association logo is a traditional sailboat figure. The base of this model is the waterbomb basic shape. According to the diagram, first you need to make the blintz fold, leaving two opposite corners untouched, and then fold the waterbomb itself in a way that what will become sails protrudes from its base.

The figure is remarkable in that both sides of the sheet are involved here. This allows you to experiment with color and get, for example, a blue boat with white sails. Alternatively, add a romantic touch and build a white boat with scarlet sails, much like one in Alexander Green's novel.

We will need:
A square sheet of paper and 5 minutes of free time. There are no restrictions on the size of the paper. As for the type of paper, you can even try cardboard.

Happy folding!
